Fat transfer, also known as fat injection or grafting, can dramatically improve the appearance of sunken eyes for a more youthful, rested appearance.
In some some of our patients, we can even address conditions commonly treated with upper eyelid surgery or a brow lift by correcting redundant skin around the eye and brow area with volume restoration.
Trust Our Fat Transfer New York Specialists
At Advanced Cosmetic Surgery of New York, our Fat Transfer New York surgeons are specialists in the field of facial rejuvenation. Their procedures can address aging concerns in the eyes as well as the hands, cheeks, lips and other areas.
They can also combine the fat grafting procedure with other procedures like dermal fillers, BOTOX® Cosmetic, facelift surgery and eyelift surgery for a total facial rejuvenation. Fat transfer can also be used to enhance areas of the body like the breasts and buttocks (Brazilian butt lift).
How Fat Transfer and Fat Grafting Work
Our fat transfer New York surgeons perform the procedure with local anesthesia. Tumescent liposuction is used to gently remove excess fat from a donor area, commonly the abdomen, hips or thighs. This method involves less risk and trauma to the patient, allowing for a quicker, easier recovery.
With tumescent liposuction, the donor area is first infiltrated with a tumescent solution and a small, thin tube known as a cannula is then inserted through very small incisions. The cannula is moved back and forth, disrupting the fat cells which are then suctioned out. Once the fat is removed, it is then purified and re-injected into the eye area.
Our surgeons are experts in performing this procedure for the treatment of sunken eyes. The fat may be injected in the area just below the eyes at the sides of the cheek and the fat may be advanced forward toward the nose. For the brow and upper eyelid area, the fat is often injected at the sides of the eyebrows.
Recovering from Surgery in our Fat Transfer New York Centers
Some patients may experience minor swelling after the fat transfer procedure. However, there is generally minimal recovery or downtime and patients are able to quickly return to their normal routine.
Studies show that after three months about 70-80% of the fat remains in the area, allowing patients to enjoy their more rested, youthful eye appearance.
