Study Finds Talking About Old Age Indicates Body Dissatisfaction

How many times have you said, “I’m getting so old”? It’s a common statement said by women and men alike.

A new study has found that this simple statement may indicate not only that people feel old, but also that they have poor body image.

Researchers from Trinity University and University of the War of England spoke to 1000 women. Their ages ranged from 18 to 87 years old.

Out of all these women, researchers found women spoke less about getting older than they did about weight concerns.

They found fat talk was more of a younger person’s talk, while the old talk came up more as the person aged. Those who spoke of being fat or old also had a more negative body image as compared to those who did not speak of their concerns regarding weight and age.

Susan Thorpe, a lecturer in psychology at the University of Surrey in Guildford, Surrey says:

“Many people are motivated to undergo cosmetic surgery because of body-image dissatisfaction.”

Plastic Surgery Can Improve Body Image

Cosmetic surgery can improve body satisfaction. In a study published in the Aesthetic Surgery Journal, participants reported they were satisfied with the outcome of their surgery with improvements in overall body image. They also claimed they had less negative emotions about body image when in social situations.

As people age, they often see changes in their body they aren’t happy with such as accumulation of fat in the abdominal area, buttocks, and thighs. Other age-related changes include fat loss in the face such as in the cheeks, lips, and around the eyes.

Changes in the skin include loss of elasticity and smoothness. It becomes drier, thinner, and more fragile. Thin lines on the face can appear as early as the 30s and they usually start on the forehead, around the eyes, and around the month.

What accelerates these age-related changes? Smoking, diet, sun exposure, genetics, and gravity are all causes of speeding up these changes and making the signs of aging more obvious.

Luckily, there is something you can do about it!

Fat Transfer Surgery Can Bring Back Youthfulness

Fat transfer is a popular cosmetic surgery option. A plastic surgeon can remove fat from one area of your body such as the abdominal area, buttocks, or thighs using liposuction. This is a great way to target stubborn areas of fat that have become more obvious with aging, hormone changes, and years of poor lifestyle habits.

After liposuction, the plastic surgeon can then inject the harvested fat into areas where fat loss has occurred, such as the face. Many patients choose to plump up cheeks and lips, smooth out lines around the eyes, and fill in forehead creases…all with injections of their own fat.

Fat Derived Stem Cell Skin Care for Anti-Aging

Another option is to have a mini-liposuction procedure and to turn the adipose-derived stem cells into anti-aging skin care from a revolutionary line of products by U Autologous. This anti-aging line is made especially for you because it uses your own adipose-derived stem cells and growth factors. By using these specialized stem cells, the products can help increase collagen and elastin while reversing fine lines and wrinkles on the face.
